Default Poor Signal Strength

Verizon is my only available service. I have had Kyocera/palm smartphones since they first came out. I have always been able to get a signal somewhere on my vineyard with the other phones and download a weather storm map in 3-4 secs. Can't do it with the Storm. Signal varies from none to 2 bars and then zero. Apparently it cannot properly use the browser with 1XRT if there is no EVDO available? Anyway there is no antenna point on the exterior of the phone; the Wilson amplifiers cost A LOT. Anyone have another suggestion? This is a much better phone is many ways and certainly better than a Windows but not nearly as easy to use as a Palm. miss the one step back instead of click click click

Different leaked OS's contain different radio codes. Download a few (see the sticky threads) and see if any work better. If nothing else, your phone will operate better than with the current OS .75

If you have no real complaints, upgrade to .148 then you'll find things that you SHOULD be complaining about running your current OS

Wouldn't this depend on which way it is being held in landscape? I'm pretty sure the antenna is to the right of the battery so if this was an issue the best way to hold it without interfering with antenna would be to hold it in portrait with your hand at the bottom.

I think jrappy87 is right...I believe the antenna is in the bottom portion of the phone...I tend to get slightly better service when holding it in any landscape position as long as my hand is away from the bottom of the phone

If you take the batt door off of your phone the chrome structure to the right of the battery with a black wire coming out of the top looks an awful lot like an antenna......why would they put it on the bottom of the phone that makes no sense. I'm not trying to be rude just going by what I see so don't take it as I know everything and you don't....just having a discussion.

Edit
Another reason this makes no sense on RIM's part is when your actually using it as a phone the majority of users would be holding it mainly towards the bottom.

I'd swap the codes around as stated in a few posts up. I get more bars with .148, but it fluctuates way too much for me. .113 i get one less bar, but it stays on 1XEV. Better reception to.
