Default No Sound from my Storm.

    Hello All,

Let me explain and see if this makes sense to you. About a week ago I was having an issue that when I would receive texts my custom tone that I chose wouldn't ring and it would use some default one. After checking the sounds and pressing TRY IT the sound still worked but it would not work when receiving the text. After searching on the forums I got an idea to hard reset the phone by taking out the battery. I did and it worked fine after that.

Now the issue I am having is that when I upload media (mainly music in MP3) that it will work for a while and then when I would try to listen to the media no sound comes out at all. I went to change the tone on my ringtone and I pressed TRY IT and still no sound. The LED indicator blinks but I get no sound. I have hard reset the phone a few times and it works for a while and then it continues to do the same.

    What do you guys suggest?

x3. Same problems with me. No sound from incoming calls or texts. Have to be a hard reset by pulling the battery. Happen 2 or 3 times now.

Have you plugged headphones in to see if it is for some reason recognizing the custom tone (presumably an .mp3 or .wav file) as a normal media music file and attempting to play it through the headphone jack?

this also happend to me.. i had to create a custom sound profile to get it to work again. BUT sounds would only work with that profile.

same peoblem though. try it would play the sound. i had to use the vol keys on the side turning them up while playing a sound to get it to play again. even if the sound was up all the way.

I got a new phone sent to me with .65 OS that seems fine.

what OS are the rest of you running that have this problem?

don't mean to be capt obvious here, but did you tap the volume keys? I had something similar happen and one tap of vol up, and the sound was back at full vol.

I have had the same problem for a few weeks now. Tried tapping the volume and a hard reset. Still no sound. This is NOT a speaker problem. I can play music just fine. This problem is only related to ringtone/alert sounds. Any help would be great.

I think I just solved this problem today , my storm was having those no sound symptoms, as no sound for songs, and video recordings, or ringtones.

If you are using the headset, I guess when using the storm if can get stuck in head phones mode, or what ever... but i plugged in my headset and unplugged it , and every thing worked again.

Great advice, thanks. Worked for me I dropped it on it's head and it belted out Amy Whinehouse. This is the worst Blackberry I have ever owned!

Well, I had the same problem and it was because of an app. The app somehow deleted a file called something like net_ring_bb_medialoader_ringtones (thatīs why no external sound) and after a hard reset and after I tried for 3 or 4 times to update the system on Desktop Manager, DM sort it out and added the file to the device.
Did you guys tried to connect the Blackberry to the Desktop Manager? It just spot it straight away the problem!!!

Oh, and btw... I donīt own a smartphone, I have a GeniusPhone
