I have been trying to figure out how to get blackberry messenger on my storm for a couple of days now.

I tried downloading it from the Blackberry.com/messenger and I get some error message.
I also tried ota and that wont work. Does anyone know how I can get it?

I tried seeing if it was on the phone through DM but it doesn't show.

My phone is v4.7.0.113 (Platform 4.0.0.144).

Hey- I had the same problem also. You need to download it from the Desktop Manager. Plug your phone in first then click on the update or install programs.

It should be easy from there.

When I update I get you have current software or something like that.

When I do the other option add/remove. I don't even have BB Messenger there.

Is it already installed?? Go to "Options" -> "Advanced Options" -> "Applications" on your Storm and look for it.

    Ok... is BB Messenger back?

If it's not... on your PC go to Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\Apploader and then run Loader.exe. There you should be able to check the box for BB Messenger and load it back onto your phone.

Not going to do any good if BB Messenger isn't installed on your phone. Only way to install it is through DM. So open DM, plug in, click on "Application Loader", then click "Start" under "Add/Remove Applications". Scroll down until you find Blackberry Messenger, check the box and click the Next button. But you have to have the OS that your using on your Storm installed on the computer your connecting to, if not you will not see it!!!! In which case, use the computer you installed the OS from.

I have never installed an operating system from my computer. I downloaded DM from BB's website.

I bought the phone second hand from a business guy. It was his personal phone and he sold it when his company gave him the same one for work.

My advice then... wait for the 4.7.0.148 official OS to roll out, which starts tomorrow. Download it when you can, update, and then it will be there as long as you check that little box .

More information on when/how .148 is being released.

It's not there because the guy who owned the phone originally chose not to load it to the phone when he loaded .113.

I would guess that the previous owner did a wipe, and didn't reinstall it or something. Who knows. But without .113 (a leaked OS) installed on your computer, you won't be able to add BB Messenger. If you're impatient, you could downgrade to .75, which is most likely what is now on your computer. I would wait though and just upgrade to .148 when its released tomorrow, kill two birds with one stone .
