To All Noobs & New BB Users,
Installing a new BB OS after a wipe will always produce better results than simply upgrading the OS build. Even if it's a minor build increment (.75 to .76), it's still worthwhile to do a wipe/install instead of a simple upgrade.
After doing a wipe/install, sometimes the OS feels laggy overall. THIS IS NORMAL! It does not mean your OS sucks, and there's no need to downgrade. Just give it a little time and your OS will be cruising before you know it. You'll definitely see improvements with a little patience.
Don't be scared. It's not complicated. There are detailed step-by-step instructions available for wipe/install (and numerous other things) that a 10 year old could understand. The search function is your friend. Even if you brick your phone, there are instructions available to help you restore your phone. Just search for it.
For those of you familiar with Windows, maybe you can relate to this analogy:
BB wipe/install --> Windows clean install
BB upgrade --> Windows upgrade
A Windows clean install always runs better than a Windows upgrade. Same goes for BB OS. It's not complicated. It's not daunting. The learning curve is small. Just be patient, and you'll be rewarded with a more enjoyable BB experience.
