New/old Storm 9500 issues

Hey guys, Picked up a storm 9500 form a kid for 30 bucks, the screen was cracked from being dropped and it had no back panelm but was able to prove that it still functions fine. Ive noticed however that the screen will freeze sometimes? as in the 4 buttons on the bottom are responsive but the touch screen wont let me select anything or will try to highlight? also ive noticed it is regularly fairly dim, but goes bright when i push in on the battery? can this be fixed by getting a new screen unit or can i get away with just replacing the glass and cleaning contacts and such? thanks.
