sometimes the star icon over the blackberry messeger or message button indicating a new message, but there are none, i tried reconciling and manually searching messages but it wont go away, already tried a soft reset, a co worker is having the same problem.

I thought this as well at first. but you have to search for it. a missed call will show as a message. i just hit the messages icon and look. also make sure you scroll to the top of the list.
Connect to your desktop manager, if it shows a new Core App upgrade, install it. Clean the memory, update your roaming via *228, register with Network HRT, and send service books via BIS (if your not BES). Those worked for me as I was having same exact problem as you are. Phone blazes along now. Havent found a bump yet afterinstalling core app upgrade.
