Actually, it is. they CS lady said that to simplify things, call it the buddy upgrade process. I believe it's called that or "alternate upgrade" like what CJ says
Just thought I'd help... I'm with T-Mobile (although I will be leaving soon because my contract has been up for a few months but im waiting for either the Storm or the Terminator)... AND TMOBILE SUCKS!!!! At least in my arena.
Anyways, I share an account with my whole family, brother, sister, mom and dad. My moms contract was up and we got the Curve for me at the TMobile store and we told the guy that I was going to use the curve and my mom was just going to keep her old phone and the guy said it was fine and lots of people do it.
I don't know what service you're on so but just letting you know Tmobile lets you do that.
