Must Read: Storm Forums Overview and Rules
Welcome to CrackBerry.com's BlackBerry Storm Forums
Hey Storm Owners!
Welcome to CrackBerry.com's BlackBerry Storm Forums. This forum has become a central hub on the net for all things BlackBerry Storm and due to the volume of traffic and passion of Storm owner's coming through here, have become almost like a whole new forum within the already massive CrackBerry forums.
That said, whether you're new to CrackBerry.com or a long-time member, we wanted to put out all of the forum rules and policies and explanations into one post here, so we can keep things civil, the conversations productive and the forums organized and useful. Please read through this entire thread before getting involved in the Storm forums. If you are new to posting in forums, be sure to check out our Forums How To. It will make your time here more productive and enjoyable.
A Note on Storm Forum's Moderation: If everybody reads this thread and follows the simple rules (they are really basic) then you'll never see the need for a moderator to edit a post, close a thread or take any modding action whatsoever. This forum is a place for discussion and we want to encourage it - never clamp down on it. Help us Help you. Post in the right forum, title your threads accurately, keep the language clean, conversation on topic and civil and you will not see any mod actions be taken. Things like personal attacks and rudeness towards other members will not be tolerated. These forums are here for your benefit and for all to have a good time. Keep it FUN.
Thanks for the cooperation, now get posting and spread the word!!

Storm Forums Organization
The Storm forums are organized into one main forum and five subforums. There names and purpose are as follows:
Main Forum - This is the default forum (where you're reading this now). As with all of our device forums, this is the forum where you post for device help and take part in general Storm-related news and discussion. All threads posted here should be value added to the topic of the thread.
Storm OS Discussion - This forum is for discussion and help surrounding the latest official and leaked unofficial Storm operating system updates. Discussion here should be kept on topic to the purpose of the thread (be it findings, help questions related to an installed beta, etc.). Here's to hoping the latest and greatest Storm OS always leaks sooner rather than later and is better than the last! OR that we get the official update that we've all been waiting for that kicks ****!
Storm Tips, How To & FAQ - This forum is for popular tips and tricks surrounding the Storm. Please keep in mind you CANNOT create new threads within this forum. A moderator must move a thread into here from another forum. If you have a new topic that you think should belong here, start it in the main Storm forum. Keep in mind we also have CrackBerry's General FAQ, Tips and Tricks section, which may contain BlackBerry information you are looking for (that extends beyond being device specific).
3rd Party Apps - For discussion and help surrounding 3rd party apps for the BlackBerry Storm.
Storm Rants & Raves - We know there are a lot of passionate opinions surrounding the BlackBerry Storm, both good and bad. To that end we have provided a place for this opinionated discussion. PLEASE keep these discussions civil per the member rules and guidelines posted below. Just because the opinions are strong does not mean the posts or treatment of other members should ever become rude.
Storm Owner's Lounge - We realize that Storm owners like to hang around the Storm forums (waiting on that latest OS release of course!) and therefore like to post on everything Storm related. To help keep the other Storm forums on-track we have provided the Storm Owner's Lounge as a place where you can kick back to discuss other Storm topics. For example, you can use this forum for OS waiting rooms and wishlist threads or to share your Storm experiences. Keep mind discussion here should still be Storm-related. For off topic posts (politics, sports, etc.), please use our Off Topic Forums. Keep in mind that as the Lounge is more akin to our CrackBerry Cafe Social forums, that posts made here do not contribute to post count and are not searchable within the forum search.
CrackBerry Rules for Member Conduct
Play Nice, Be Helpful, and have Respect!
This means keep the language clean, keep your posts polite, and don’t get into arguments over dumb things. If somebody responds to a thread you posted in poor fashion, ignore it, and the moderation team will quickly clean it up (you can always message or email a moderator at any time if you observe anything that is in poor taste/against the rules). Think back to what your parentals and teachers used to lecture - if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Always remember that we are all unique and at different levels here - some of us are experienced BlackBerry users and forum junkies, while others are just starting out. If you’re on the experienced side, have patience for those just joining in on the fun and be helpful. With a little patience and a little help they won’t be newbies for long. Instead of responding to a question by posting "Search", respond with an answer and point them in the right direction. Also remember that it is our differences that keeps this place interesting. If everyone was from the same place and at the same experience level it would be boring. This is a worldwide community united by a common interest - our love, or addiction as some would call it, for the BlackBerry!
Standard CrackBerry Forums Posting Rules and Guidelines
The following Rules & Guidelines for making Forum Posts will help keep the CrackBerry Community a Happy, Healthy, and Functional Family of BlackBerry Users for centuries to come. When it comes to Posting Rules & Guidelines, we are not reinventing the wheel here, but are relying on proven rules used by other top forum sites on the web:
Post in the Right Forum
We’ve done our best to layout the forum categories so they are logical and make sense. When you are creating a new thread, do your best to get it in the right category. We want these forums to be value added and educational. The General CrackBerry Discussion and General RIM/BlackBerry Discussion are good places to post if you have a serious question but are not quite sure where to put it. These forums are less stringently moderated, while specific forums (BlackBerry 8700 Series for example) are more strictly moderated to maintain their quality and usefulness.
And of course, we also have the Off-Topic Discussion forum. This is the place on the site to have fun and talk about whatever. From sports to the weather to what to buy your girlfriend for her birthday (buying her a new blackberry is always a good thing), anything goes in here. Just remember to keep it clean, keep it productive and keep it legal!
Avatars, User Names, Signatures, General Posting Guidelines
Member User Names and Avatars must be appropriate for a Public Forum of all ages. If the moderation team does not feel your Avatar or User Name is appropriate you will kindly be asked to change it (User Name will be changed to one of your choosing by Administration). Username changes can be made by an Executive moderator. Username changes are only granted in the case where a member accidentally registers with an inappropriate username (something offensive that must be changed, a full name or email address) or a special circumstance requires a change absolutely necessary. You may contact sitesupport @ crackberry.com to request this change.
Signatures are allowed, and may contain up to one external hyperlink (points to a webpage outside of CrackBerry.com), but should not be excessive in length nor contain any promotional text (enticing users to click). Traffic leaching will not be tolerated. Additional signature links are acceptable, so long as they point to pages within the CrackBerry.com site (favorite how to article, forum rules, etc.). Signatures should be small and tasteful and take up 1 - 4 lines max in the default font size (the last thing we want is to look at a forum thread and see 15 big signatures that take up all of the screen real estate). Moderators will determine what is acceptable or not.
During your posts, refrain from excessive use of colors, UPPER CASE LETTERS, and excessive use of emoticons. It is fine to express yourself using each of these means, but do so in a reasonable manner. Use common sense.
No Advertising Policy
CrackBerry.com maintains a No Advertising policy in the forums. Individuals/Businesses may not make posts promoting the sale of their own or other competing stores Products (Accessories, Services, Software, Themes, etc.) or sales. Traffic Leaching is strictly prohibited. If you'd like to promote or advertise your Accessories, Services, Software, Themes etc. on CrackBerry.com please contact Kevin Michaluk directly. Kevin can be reached via email, kevin at crackberry.com.
Individuals looking to Sell or Swap personally owned items (i.e. Used Unlocked AT&T BlackBerry 8700 for Sale) may post in the Buy & Sell forum.
Please note, if individuals (not related to the company selling a product or service) post on an item that is or becomes available in the ShopCrackBerry.com store, if available for the same price or less we reserve the right to update posts to this link (gotta keep in business!).
Please post to the MOST relevant forum. Double or cross forum posting or other attempts at flooding the forum with a stream of posts will be removed. If you find that you have posted in the incorrect forum, please contact a moderator to have it moved to the correct location.
This refers to posting with the deliberate intention to either pad your post count or to keep a thread 'hot' so it appears at the top of the forum. Bumping can sometimes be useful, but you must wait three days from the original post to bump the thread. Only one bump is allowed per thread per user. CrackBerry.com's moderator’s reserve the right to delete useless “bumps” at their discretion.
Make Meaningful Posts
While CrackBerry.com is geared as much towards entertaining and connecting the Crackberry community as it is to helping solve problems and staying on top of news and rumors, all posts made within the site should be value added and on topic to the thread (even in the free for all). Hijacking a thread off-topic is a big No-No, and posts made for no reason other than to increase post count will be wiped from the site.
Use a Descriptive Title
This rule is simple; help us to help you. When you create your thread / post, think of it as if 'somone else' is reading it. With that in mind, make your subject lines related to the content of your post. Having a subject line of 'help' or 'now what', will not really help others later when they do a search for a particular issue. So, try to be a little more creative. Example: “My Pearl will not show myFaves icons” or “How do I use BB Maps on my 8100”
Please keep posts and links family appropriate. The administrator’s and moderator’s reserve the right to delete posts at their discretion if they are deemed inappropriate or offensive. Users will be giving a warning for the first violation; any subsequent violation could result in a ban from the forum.
Do not flame, insult or post personal attacks against other users. Be courteous, not rude. Any instances or reports of harassment of members will be treated seriously. CrackBerry.com has a zero tolerance policy against this kind of behavior, which may result with an immediate temporary or permanent ban at moderators' discretion. CrackBerry.com is a friendly place - treat members with respect at all times. If you don't have something nice to say, do not say it!
Reporting a bad post
There is a "Report bad post" button on the top right side of each post (red/white triangle) or you can send a PM to a moderator.
Use the Site Search and Forum Search
If you have a basic question that needs answering, depending on the specifics, there’s a good chance the answer might already be posted in the forums and/or elsewhere on the site. We’ve assembled a lot of the basic blackberry FAQs on the site, and with the forums growing daily there is a lot of knowledge accumulating in the database. Doing site searches before posting will help keep things efficient.
Only one username or account is allowed per CrackBerry member. If you have forgotten your log in information, do not create a new account, please contact us. Users found with multiple accounts will be banned.
Keep it Legal
No posting of Warez in the forums, such as links to download warez, instructions on "cracking" software, or "workarounds" that enable people to utilize for-pay services without paying. Posting this kind of content can result in an immediate and permanent ban. These kinds of activities can get CrackBerry.com in trouble, and nobody wants that, so just don't do it.
A message to spammers - we have NO TOLERANCE for SPAM. Post a spam message and your account and all associated posts will immediately be deleted. No second chances. You won't get away with Spamming CrackBerry.com, so don't bother wasting your time. This also includes spamming via Private Message within the forums PM system. No link abuse, traffic leaching, member leaching, advertising, ADULT content or nudity will be tolerated! To help reduce SPAM only members with at least 10 posts may post links.
Forum Moderation Team
CrackBerry.com's owners and administrators trust that any action that a moderator does will follow the above guidelines, so please respect them, as they are volunteering their time to keep this site fun for all to use. If you feel that you are being treated unfairly, or have a question about a moderator action, you may contact them via PM, or send a PM to one of our Executive Moderators, Bla1ze or Azeis. Executive Moderators have final say in any forum moderation decisions.
Warnings/Ban General Policy
Forum moderators do not seek to issue warnings or bans to members. It is the aim of CrackBerry.com's founders, owners, administrators and moderators that the Community Forums be a friendly and welcoming environment for all BlackBerry owners and enthusiasts of any skill level. That said, members who do not follow the simple rules above and hurt the environment vs. help it will be warned. We would rather have everyone be an active member of CrackBerry.com, but action will be taken against members who continually break the rules and cause more harm than good. The general policy of the CrackBerry Moderation team is 3 strikes and you're out. Depending on offense, the moderation team reserves the right to act more generously or with greater severity.
