Default multipart/alternative

Dear CrackBerry Users,

I bought a Blackberry Storm 1 9530 from a local surplus store. This is the first time I have used or owned a blackberry. When I activated it with Verizon it instantly showed an e-mail address of, I guess, the previous user. Learning about the blackberry in all it's wonders, I found that I had to use the Blackberry Internet Service to edit e-mail accounts. I found that this PIN was registered to another user and I could not create an account. I used a different blackberry to create an account and then 'changed the device' to the one I am currently using. That allowed me to add e-mail accounts to my BB. This is a personal BB and not a BES BB.

I upgraded to all the latest and greatest today April 12th, 2010 - so I have the newest OS and everything else is up to date.

My problem is all e-mails display [?] multipart/alternative in the body of the e-mail and nothing else.

Searching google and here, I have tried the following:

- Erased the entire BB
- deleted all service books associated with my e-mail account, pulled battery, deleted all e-mail addresses from BIS, re created e-mail accounts in BIS, resent service books, pulled battery, and nothing.

I send an e-mail from my Verizon account via the Internet interface to the Gmail account I set up on my BB - just plain text and I see the sender info, the subject then [?] multipart/alternative - that's it.

Yes, html is turned on and auto download images is active as well. I have not seen many people with this issue except for people on OS before 4.5 posted in 2008, and I was hoping someone could help me now.

Thank You,

Derrick J. Gebhard

I know this is an old one, but I have pretty much exactly the same problem.

Did you get sorted in the end?

I ask because if wiping and starting again as it were didn't help I don't want that grief.

Had a Google and look around the forum but answers on this are there but no solutions to return my BB email to normal.

I have a 9780 on BIS with 6.6.0.668 on 3 in the UK who I am calling now. Just would have liked to sort it myself but it seems to have beaten me this time.

This has literally only happened in the last day or 2 and all Gmail forwarded to my phone had been fine previously.

It now won't display the message body/text but some attachments seem ok.

Tested it from my wife's phone by forwarding an email from her BB on 3 but same problem so it is certainly my phone/email.

Thanks.

Well, did a complete wipe and reset. Waste of time!!

Should have been patient.

Network tech calling me back in a day or so.

3 tech support have now tried resetting my email on the server.

Delete and reinstate but no joy.

So my problem has been escalated a tier.

Feels like I have passed through the generic support structure and will be dealt with by a BB techie. But as its the weekend.............

Will know more soon.

Meantime just have to log into gmail to see emails.

Sort of defeats the point of having BB email in the first place.

Finally fixed it!

It had to go all the way to Blackberry themselves to fix my html.

It may still be the html at fault on my handset but a tweak at their end on the bb server fixed it.

I am testing it for 3 days but all is back to normal at the moment.

Took 3 weeks of messing about to do.
