Default Messages won't stay longer than a month

I have been watching this site quite a bit, and finally have a question/concern with my storm. Anyways my messages (both emails, and sms/mms) will only stay during the current month on my phone no matter what I choose for general messages settings. When I first got the phone I changed to 6 months and after a couple months noticed that only my messages for the current month are kept. So I tried changed to forever, and then to 3 months. And each month it is no different, all is lost after the current month.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

How is the memory on your phone? Sometimes a BB will delete messages, texts, etc. If it needs more memory. Or it could be a plan/carrier issue.

Open your messages...hit options....general option...last option is how long you want to keep your messages

I got the phone the day it was released. And I have tried the options...general options...and how long to keep them but never changed anything.

Memory is: device memory is 874.9 MB free, application memory is 18.6MB.

    And my provider is Verizon.

    Any other thoughts?

I've had issues in that it's kept messages when they are supposed to be deleted.

Try saving them to the 'saved' folder ? (BB key, save messages)

Yea i'm thinking it is a software issue but not sure how to rectify it. I am running version .103, but wanted to wait for a new official release by verizon.

Just thought maybe I was missing something.

Perhaps you guys missed this correct answer.... here it is again quoted just in case.

Messages, Menu/Options/General, look for Keep Messages for: (by default it's 30 days)

I understand that, but if you read my original post I said I had already went into the message options and changed it to keep for 6 months, and noticed after a few months that it was only keeping the current month.

So tried 4 months and forever with no luck which is why I posted to see if there was anything else to try.

Then the option is either not being set correctly or they are short of application memory and that's why it's being cleared out. Blackberries will empty out message and call log to reclaim app memory if it's truly running low on it... from the memory readout in the OP, it's low. Delete some stuff off... everyone wants to pretend the Storm is different and will run just fine with 0MB free of app memory... that's just not true and it never will be.

Also, if you're on BES for your company, it could be part of your IT Policy as well that it won't keep messages beyond 30 days exactly. This is something you won't be able to change.

If your memory gets too low, BBs delete messages and call logs. May be that's what happens. How long has it been since a battery pull?

I'll try to free up more application memory. I do a battery pull a couple times a week.

I am running BIS. This is my first blackberry so didn't know which memory would be utilizing the emails and messages.

    Thanks for the help.

I have started facing this problem now. Have noticed this issue for the last few weeks now.

Have about 55MB memory space left so that is not an issue i think. Quite a few of my friends are facing the same problem too.
