I did a couple of times already. Temporary remedy are battery pulls. Could be a bug in the OS.

I had the problem with the .65 OS. Since I've upgraded to .75 the indicator turned off.

did u check other apps. like aim and myspace, they both show message notifications on top.. and you have to go into the program and look at the message and then it will erase.

Visual Voicemail seems to trigger crazyness with my light indicator. A lot of times it just stays flashing red.

When this happened to me, I pulled my battery for 10 seconds, and after re-seating it, haven't had a problem since. =P. Hope that helps.

I've also heard it goes away after you delete all messages and call logs, if its still there do a battery pull.

That's what works on my 8830.

I check all message folders and use the keyboard shortcut to take me to the next unread message. If there are unread email and voicemail notifications. I delete it and the light goes out

If you have Weatherbug installed you might want to check that.

You can disable alerts in WB options.

I had this from Voice mail alerts which are sent as SMS/MMS Alerts. I had hidden my SMS/MMS Icon since I don't use it much. So I unhid it and deleted the Alerts and all is well. Then I Combined the SMS/MMS and E-mail Folders (Messages folder Options) and now all alerts go to the Messages Folder and can be delete there.
