My current storm has only 42.5 mb of app. memory, and I don't think I can remove that much from it (I've already axed the games and VZNAV.) I have only 3 apps (Facebook, Youtube, Weatherbug). I did upgrade to Weatherbug .274, which took 4.0 memory.

What else have you guys done to increase memory, speed, and ultimately, cut down lag?

    What OS are you running?

Are you closing out of program correctly, as in hitting the Blackberry button and closing stuff that way, versus using the red button?

You can axe the default wallpapers, if you use custom ringtones, and if you don't use voice activated dialing you can get rid of that. That will free up over 10mb.

I agree, over 40 is really good. .83 OS sped things up a good deal for me as well.

yeah, people want high numbers, anything over 40 is excellent, anything below 40 is FINE too, nothing wrong with it, once you start dipping below 20's you might want to get rid of some things. delete the net_rim_vad files if you don't use VAD and the (stormresolution)_t.cod file too, that should free up a good amount if you are that numerically worried.

It's not the memory really, its just that the phone seems to lag even more with .83

I'd like to keep it though, because the browser seemed to pick up nicely, but other then that, I don't see a difference. And I liked the highlighter-following idea.

I usually use the back button to exit programs. Is there a command/way to close all applications that are currently running? I also do memory cleans quite often, and maybe 5 battery pulls in the phone's life (since Nov. 21)

EDIT: Now at 46.5, but I don't think I did anything other then remove my old text messages

My wife's phone is running almost 52 megs free after a fresh .83 install. No additional apps, though.

my Storm is running with around 56 mb free and it's pretty stripped down...

make sure to clear your browser cache and messages every now and then...too many will slow things down

Still running .75 - with a memory leak that takes it from 40.0MB to around 23.0MB over a 24 hour period - and oddly enough it runs FASTER with less memory available.

Using the softreset app brings me back to 40.0MB but the OS isn't as snappy, etc. Low memory seems to be better for me!

Cleared both the browser history and my txts, still the same.

Perhaps my phone is just slower then others.

Have you tried a battery pull? After I first installed it, it seemed a bit laggy. After doing the battery pull with "soft pull" the phone is faster then its ever been!
