anybody know what could be wrong and/or how to fix?

check and make sure its not in bedside mode, that has happened to me before. also go into options/screen-keyboard and check in there to make sure its checked

Hate to say it but you might want to try a battery pull if the above suggestions do not fix.

Dumb question, but it helped someone earlier: is it in bedside mode?
Also, check your profile settings and make sure repeat notification, led flashing is set.
