Default Just tryin to understand?

Why is it i can only get verizon to unlock my storm if i have an active account with them, but i can find hundreds of sites that will let me pay them and i dont have to give them info on a verizon account?
do they buy the code from verizon?

the sites that sell unlock codes have invested in software that allows them to generate unlock codes if they have basic information for your phone.

there are also some sites that will unlock for free. Try going to the link below and joining the site for free. Once you have joined you can request a free unlock code. Even though I am with Verizon, I used this site for both my phone and my son's phone and the codes provided worked the first time.

I am not aware of any other sites that will unlock for free.

I recommend you search the net. The results should provide many sites that will unlock for anywhere from $2 to $30 US.

Once you find a site you want to use, do some research on it be sure the previous customers have been satisified.

There are a number of unlocking companies that offer contests for free unlocking codes. You can try entering a contest in one of the threads here.
