I am getting horrible speed using the internet on my BB Storm. I got the Cisco GIST Speed test app and I can only get 191 kbps average speed 229 max. We do use a BES server at my company.

Is there anyone else using Verizon in Phoenix that is getting better speeds than this?

    Thanks

I am from Phoenix but moved for the time being so I can't test it for you now, but I had good speed when I was there to visit a couple weekends ago. Never thought to myself that it was slow. I'm on BIS.

First off, unlike when you run an internet speed test from your computer. These are the actual speeds your getting. It's easy for a computer based internet speed test to say your getting well over 10gb/s download yet your in reality, getting 1gb/s.

That's not too bad of a speed at all. I'm in South Tempe and my speed just tested at about 400kb/s.

Right I get that.... and 400kb/s is more 2x what I get. But it SHOULD be faster, 700-800 I would think.

Go test it outside to make sure your not getting a weaker connection because of the building your in. What part of the valley are you located in?

I am getting an average of 135, with a high of 143. I am very pleased with the speed of my internet.

Crackberry WAP loads fine and thats all that matters for me.

And no I am NOT in Pheonix. I am in Ronan MT.

I have run the test close to 20 times in Asheville, NC. I average about 180 kbps.

It seems like a low number to me, especially since its a Rev A device. I am very happy with the speed of the browser but I do notice downloading 3rd party apps or music OTA is pretty slow.

Their absolute maximum is 2Mb/s. Average is 400kb/s - 700kb/s. So I guess i'm getting the lower end of the average, but i'm also inside a multi-level house, in the basement of all places. I'll go test it outside in a few.

You may just be in a weaker coverage area... All I can say is, be happy we have the 3g coverage we do. My iPhone friends have very spotty coverage all over the valley.

Yikes. I thought I was slow at around 375kbps. Try Bolt or Opera Mini. They sped up my browser speeds by 10x easy. A lot smoother for Crackberry

I forgot to mention... this is app is in beta. It's very possible that the calculations are off or a number of other factors that could be causing the low readings.

Perhaps cisco just hates us and wants us to think our phones and network suck? Lol.

I have a new Verizon tower next to my office. So I walked over to it and standing 30 feet away I get 75.4 kbps "web grade". Completed in 13 secs.

I did this test several times.

I can get closer but I notice my hair falls out when I do.

i was wondering the same thing. i bought my storm about 3 weeks ago and noticed slower speeds then what i had with my previous phone. i average about 160 to 180. my previous phone was the xv6900 and i averaged 280 to 340. storm sits in the same place the 6900 did, connects the same way and all, so i might be wrong, but to me i think its something with the blackberry. well this is the my second storm, first had screen click probs and i took it back, but same speeds with both storms.

I'm smack dab in the middle of Irvine, CA, a place I would think would be pretty damn good and inside at my small one story office building, the best I can muster is 142.8.... 135 is my average 289 is my BEST out of at least 50 tests.... My buddies iPhone in the same building does better on ATcrapT using speedtest.net
