it seems if i put a custom ringtone for one person it always goes to that ringtone and that volume. so if i put the phone on vibrate it still plays the song for the individual person, even when i leave the ringtone volume at "active profile" - can anybody help?
It sounds like your running .75 OS. You need to upgrade to .148 and that should fix your problem. Search the forums or go to the OS sub forum for instructions on how to do this.

W/.75 override custom contact alerts via Sounds > custom profiles > add > name as u wish > set each function > new profile appears in Sounds list > select when desired.
