IMAP with Google apps?
- Ok ok I KNOW questions like this are all over here and before I get flamed YES I have searched, YES I have read as many postings as I could and YES I have tried just about everything off every forum I could....nothing is working.
So here it goes: This is indeed my first BB. I have my own domain hosted at google. Therefore it is google apps. I want my email set up as IMAP. Every single time I go to set it up in any of the ways anybody on here tells me to, it will not work. If I go turn off POP in my email settings and turn on IMAP, when i set up the account, POP "magically" gets turned back on. If I turn POP back off, I get no email delivered back to my BB.
Verizon support is of no help to me either. My windows based phone worked fine, I could see all of my folders I have, do anything - so what is the deal? Is this a BB/google issue? If so does anybody know if there is a plan to resolve this? Is it because I am BIS? I have no plans to pay anymore per month just to be able to see folders - I do not have to do that with a windows phone...
Can someone help me figure this thing out before it drives me insane? Or is there even anything to figure out? I've been told it just won't work...Last edited by shuttrbug74; 12-01-08 at 11:44 AM. Reason: spelling errors UGH
12-01-08 10:51 AMLike 0 - mine doesn't work either. i have no access to previous e-mails, and any changes i make on my Storm are not reflected in Gmail. it's annoying and causes twice the work =P12-01-08 11:18 AMLike 0

go to that site...
login... if u cant login call verizon
delete current gmail account
set up a new email account with [email protected] and a fake password
select the option to enter your own email settings
delete all fake info and enter imap.gmail.com as your server and use all the other imap email settings.
P.S. this was posted somewhere in these forums before...12-01-08 11:37 AMLike 0 - Like I said in my posting...I searched all the forums here (and everywhere else) I have been at this since I got my phone on the 21st. I tried everything that was suggested MULTIPLE times, step by step.
Also as I stated....The fake email/password and changing things does not work (for me). I do not get my folders. In google apps for some reason POP gets turned back ON and your email winds up being delivered as POP. I explained that as well.
Verizon also couldn't get it to do anything. They couldn't explain why google apps worked differently then regular gmail. They have no clue. And as for taking it back to the store and getting their help...my local store is the ones who didn't even know they had to set up the Blackberry account for me. I wound up having to call Verizon and do that on my own so I doubt I can trust their assistance either.12-01-08 11:58 AMLike 0 -

I am very disappointed since I was very specific when I spoke to the verizon rep in the store. AND I really was excited about moving to a BB product. Knowing it doesnt do what I needed without having to pay more (which is what I specified I did not want to do - and couldn't do at the moment) makes me even more unhappy with that particular store.
It was a 7 hour ordeal to begin with...the woman telling me there were no more phones in stock (they had 20, only sent 5 out the door. 20 minus 5 =?) So she ordered me one but hands the guy behind me a phone? I get a manager who doesn't speak to me, his boss doesn't speak to me...It goes on and on. I persisted because I was **** bent on trying this product, and now I foind out they weren't even honest with me about what I could do with it on my plan. I think its also time to switch service providers.....12-01-08 05:10 PMLike 0
