i cannot connect BB desktop software with my Storm 9530

Please help, I'm using a strom 9530 and i'm new to this. I downloaded blackberry desktop software and the software version i'm using is v4.7.0.148.
In the software the Application, Organizer & File options are working but when its comes to multimedia, none of the sections are working. The error says "A problem occurred while attempting to connect to your Blackberry device" i did restart and did all i can but result is the same.

Even when i go to my computer i cant see a black berry device as a drive

Please someone help me, since I'm new to this I'm lost

Here are a few suggestions:

1 you may want to download a newer version of desktop manager, version 5

2 Check your usb connections. Try a different connection and be sure you are not going through a usb hub

3 on you phone go to: Options>Memory> and be sure Mass Stroage Mode support is ON and Auto enable Mass Storage Mode When connected.

I did the option 2 and 3. which u mentioned below but couden't find the version 5 cos when i look in the net that the latest version is BlackBerry Desktop Software v6.1 but when i download and install it says v4.7.0.148..
