    Address Book > Options > select your address book under Address Books > Number of Entries.

    In other words: Contacts folder > menu > options > default (&/or other, if u have) > # of entries.

    for the sms and such..
    options > status > BB button > Database Sizes

    scroll down, and you should see something like 50/14.1k

    number on the left is whats in there
    I got mine up to 3000 and decided it was finally time to delete
