How fast do you lose memory on your storm?
I have been having quickpull reboot my storm every day about mid day. I do use Pandora, BBM and browser often. But I always close out apps when done. Yesterday I went to use the camera around supper time at my sons soccer game and it wouldn't work, until I pulled the Batt. the memory was low. I notice that the Storm sucks up memory like water. anyone having this issue? I will be going through my onboard files such as wallpapers and stuff to free up some more memory. I like everything about the storm but this!
Also whats a short cut to cutting and pasting something from an email or other text, I did it a lot with my curve but now I'm clueless how to on the storm.
My storm has altzimers, wheres it's memory going
Past Models owned
7130e,8830we,8330curve and Storm1 and 2
Now, without turning back....DROID X
Wife still has a curve until March11, then we are gone! - 07-23-2009, 07:15 AM #2
It all depends on the combination of apps and themes you have installed. No two Storms are alike in the sense of memory consumption. Themes are the biggest culprit because they are constantly running when you have it activated. What apps/Themes do you have?

Running .151, I haven't pulled the battery since installing the OS a week ago. I booted up with 40.5 and have 38.5 now.

I'm like you and have to do a batt pull once or twice a day. After a reboot I have about 38mb of free memory, and after a little Pandora, a game or two and some minor browser usage, I'm down to around a sluggish 18mb. Running .148 with about 8 apps. Still yet to be happy with the phone.

I've been meaning to do that. I was beta testing a while back and didn't want to screw something up, but now I think that it is time. I have heard .151 is a solid way to stop memory leaks. I also should redownload my apps because I constantly back them up and reupload them which I have heard causes severe leaks. Is that last line true or is that myth?

With .151 memory leaks are pretty much not a problem. Wow. Just realized that I will never have to worry about a memory leak again...Awesome!!
(PS. I Boot up with ~52 and never go under 50)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Media Apps: TeleNav, RepliGo Reader, Where, FMyLife, Trapster, TipHelper, GoogleMaps, Facebook 1.5, YouTube, TheWeatherNetwork

It couldn't hurt, but as great as .151 is with memory, I'd just do a regular upgrade and restore (using loader.exe to install the upgrade to your phone instead of using DM). If you have problems later (I doubt you will), you always reinstall and not restore your apps then.

Memory Loss Issue
I had exactly the same problem with memory leak until earlier this week. My issue was resolved by following the Patches/wipe and reload method (search memory leak resolved to find the thread with the detailed instructions on how to do it) -- apparently the theory being that there is a corrupt file somewhere that is consuming the memory -- and upgrade the OS to .151. Before doing that, my Storm's memory would boot to 24 and quickly drop to 12 and then leak down to 2 or 3 every day. Since, it boots to 31 and has not dropped below 23 with lots of apps loaded on and heavy use.

Memory should fluctuate. Its designed to be used. But it should rebound after apps are closed. If you're having memory issues search for a thread in the OS subforum titled "resolved memory leak". At least you'll learn what's causing your leak, if not fully resolve it so it is never an issue again.

right now I have Messages, BBM, Home, Profiles, Ubertwitter, browser, BBWeather, Beejive, Facebook, Empower Mailviewer, and phone running. 27.5MB remaining [stable]
I should close apps after I use them, but I dont see a significant change in the MB going back up seeing as I used the memory already within the app - 07-23-2009, 10:23 AM #15
I think my last reboot was Sunday and I'm currently down 9 MB on .151.

To the op; sounds like a couple of your apps are giving you problems. What do you have loaded on your phone?

On .148 I had to do a batt pull about 3 times a day, since .151 I have only needed 1. It froze while scanning a bbm barcode. At first it was bootng at 26mb, now it boota to 23, sits around 20 most of the day. 17 with most apps running, drops to 12 if I open viigo
