I'm I'm trying to log into a web site and it says I need to enable cookies could someone explain what this means and how to turn them on please

I'm assuming your not using the BB browser? My BB browser doesn't give me the option to deny cookies, however, my Opera browser does. Which browser are you referring too? I have a 9530, and the brand new Opera 5 works amazing on my phone. I don't have the exact definition of a 'cookie' , but basically its a tiny bit of text info the website wants your browser to store for info purposes, setting purposes, ect.
