Force a Storm to reflash itself with the same firmware (software) it already has, due to it suddenly becoming faulty?

did you try a wipe? You could also use Jl_comdr to do a full wipe of the storm (ends up with no OS) and then do a clean reinstall of your current OS.

There is a great thread that a search would yield that has step by step instructions on the latter suggestion.
