I have a 8530 Curve and this works but only if you have the original theme active. I had a downloaded theme active and my menu didn't have explore listed, but once I activated the original theme I found it.

Default still can't retrieve a hidden photo

I have tried the the below mentioned procedures for viewing/retrieving hidden pics. The problem i have now is that my bb comes up with a message saying unable to display.

    the file is named BBThumbs.dat

the date and time stamp is correct for the time the pic was taken but i sill can't see it.

Does anybody out there know how I go about fixing this?

BBThumbs.dat, is a system file not a picture. It simply tells the OS to display the pictures located in that folder to show in thumbnail view. Thats why you cannot view it. Google the filename and you will see. And as a matter of fact, that date and timestamp is the last time that file was modified (i.e. took a picture).

i'm having the exact same problem with my BB8350. it shows the file name "BBThumbs.dat", but when i try to open it all i get is "unable to display file". i've also tried hooking it up to my computer, but i can't seem to get to the file at all when i do that. i've tried searching for it, but it's a no-go. so i'm still stuck with not being able to retrieve my hidden pics.

Here is what I found on blackberry.com for Device software 5.0 and 6.0:

    BlackBerry® Device Software 5.0 and BlackBerry® 6:

Follow these steps to hide a picture on the BlackBerry smartphone:

1.On the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Media.
    2.Go to Pictures.
3.Open the picture desired to hide.
4.Press the Menu key and click Properties.
5.Select the Hidden check box and click Close.
Follow these steps to unhide a picture on the BlackBerry smartphone:

If the picture is in Device Memory,

    1.Click Device Memory.
    2.Click home.
    3.Click user.
    4.Click pictures.
5.Press the Menu key and click Show Hidden.
    6.Hidden pictures will display dimmed.
    7.Highlight the hidden picture.
8.Press the Menu key and click Properties.
9.Uncheck the Hidden check box and click Close.
If the picture is in Media Card,

    1.Click Media Card.
    2.Click BlackBerry.
    3.Click Pictures.
4.Press the Menu key and click Show hidden.
    5.Hidden pictures will display dimmed.
    6.Highlight the hidden picture.
7.Press the Menu key and click Properties.
8.Uncheck the Hidden check box and click Close.

Default Themes affecting navigation in folders

Should be noted that some themes for BB will affect menu options. I just tried navigating to find hidden pictures on an MMMOOO theme, could not see the "Explore" option. Then I thought to switch to the BB default theme and saw that option show up. Just an FYI.

Default how to unhide photos that have been hidden and see them back under media photo folders

I have hidden a folder in the media folder in my torch bb and i know how to find the hidden folder under the media, explore, unhide and so forth, But then when I go back in the folders under my media and pictures, the folder that i hid is no longer visible there. How do I get it back in the folders under my pics again? Please advise as soon possible.
