Hey, all, I am software smartish and hardware dumb (no "ish", and I admit it.)

Would there be any advantage to running my Storm 9530 (VZW) without the SIM card.

Seems to me I saw a thread somewhere saying so -- can't remember if it was memory or speed. Anyone with knowledge willing to share input?

No real advantage. The only disadvantage is that the SIM provides an added layer of bulkness to the section right above the screen slick button. Removing layers of this stacked bulk in the contruction would leak to suckier click, but that's about it.
