HELP!!! Contacts lost! Won't Sync!

My son got a hold of my phone. He is 17 months old and was finger mashing it. When I got it back, all of my contacts were gone (1000+) and they were replaced with one of my contacts taking them over and being listed 1000+ times. I have tried to sync and I have tried to restore to my last backup date (three days ago) and neither works. When I sync everything syncs except for my contacts. Not sure what to do.

I searched google for an answer and I don't have a sync service book to delete, pull the battery and then undelete. Please help me. This is a rough loss for a phone I am already very frustrated with. Thank you.

What error do you get when you try to SYNC?

Try deleting the contacts either from the phone or thru DM and then try to use the backup of the contacts
