A question I've always had... A mobile phone should be mobile, but how can you be MOBILE when you're tied to a wi-fi hot spot?

IF the Storm/9520 and the wireleess carriers that will sell it fully support UMA (like T-Mo's HotSpot@home), so you can do your normal voice calling across WiFi, can text message across it, get full BB data acrros it, along with also surfing the web via wifi, then heck yeah I'd at least want the option of WiFi on the phone.

But when all you can really do with the wifi is surf the web, IM, and maybe use some 3rd party add on VOIP program, I guess that makes me feel its less valuable of a feature to have.

NOW, other carriers coming out with a Storm/95xx unit? VERY VERY NICE! I don't care who the carrier is. The fact that there will be more Storms out there in the market place should really give incentive for app developers to work on "storm compatible" versions of software/applications.

I'm happy all those who knocked the Storm/9530 because it doesn't have Wi-Fi now have a GSM/HSPA version with Wifi for them!

The Wi-Fi is something that is a HUGE benefit when you are stuck in a University linked hospital that has somewhere around 30-40 Operating rooms and usually your so deep within the building that a signal is nearly impossible..this is the only place where I wish I had the WIFI, other than that its worthless to me, just another thing to say you have when arguing with an iPhone owner...next they will have a flute app for us...LOLZ!

I actually know a lot of people that would like the Pearl and flip Pearl without a data plan...

The size is similar to a "regular phone" BUT it has great PDA features of calendar and contacts, not to mention the memopad, and texting...

Well this sucks, I was convinced that rogers was not getting the storm in so I switched providers to Telus and now I'm on a 3 year contract with a phone that doesn't support Wi-Fi. This is pretty sucky.

Sweet X-mas news CX!
It would be suh-weet to have wi-fi... I like to tease and say wi-fi is "so 2004", but deep down I WANT IT!

BTW, VZW is truly the evil empire and love to hold back stuff like this. You are right that they want you to use their network... (sigh)

You lucky canucks!!!

lol well i get a 20% discount with them so oh well.. plus their network has GREAT coverage wherever i go.

but u'd think they'd not want u to use their service to save bandwidth.

then again, w/ wifi, there'd be more reason to unlock and not use on VZW.

IMO, i find that unlocking the 9530 for tmo and att is useless b/c no 3g. if the 9530 had wifi, u could get the push email and such, but also faster web browsing with wifi when in a wifi area.
