Default Email push question (and one other random question)

So when I first got my storm I set it up so that my school email address is pushed to it. However recently I set up my school email to be pushed to my gmail account because my job requires heavy email use and my school email doesn't have enough memory to handle several hundred emails a day. To clarify real quick, my job is through the school and they require the use of a school email, thus its common practice at the office to push emails to gmail. On to my question. Since I am basically pushing an email to another email to my storm, will it take that much longer to receive? Since it's the holidays now I am not really getting anything to my email so I can't really judge how long it's taking. Since I got my storm I almost never even check my email online and just use the storm to send and receive everything which is why in a few weeks I wanted to see if I'm going to have to wait half an hour or something to get an email someone sent to me.

Now for my random question that I'd figure I'd throw in here. I am very adamant about closing out of apps to keep battery life up and prevent any slowing down. However I noticed that I can not close out of the following at any given time, these are: phone, messages, bb messenger, and browser. Are these standard to be always running? I feel like the browser would be taking up a lot of memory if its always running but even when I close out it's still there. As you can tell this is my first bb, I absolutely love this phone though. Thanks for any help!

Pushing your email through an IMAP server may be faster than pushing it through POP3. So if you're doing it through GMail and you've got IMAP set up, it's almost pretty instantaneous.

As for the other question, there are always applications that naturally run in the background that can't be closed out. It seems like the ones you named are the ones that do run in the background except for the browser.

I thought the Storm, and other BB's only look for email every 15 minutes?

IMAP is generally like a direct push in BES. GMail has been a bit slower as of late though.
