Here's my issue...I set all the different ring tones and notification sounds for calls, texts and e-mails, but the sounds are only activating some of the time. I have the phone on normal profile, and occasionally I will hear the phone chime when I get a new message, but other times I'll look over and the red LED will be blinking when I clearly didn't hear any sound. Is this an error on my part or an OS flaw?

I am having the same issue. When you go to the check the tone and press TRY IT do you still get a sound?

I'm having the same problem, as well as many others I think. Not sure how to fix, if we even can. Might have to wait for future updates...

Well it looks like it's a software flaw then. I have .65 currently, have any of you upgraded to .75?

Also, I went into the sound menu and hit try and the notifications are working fine, so it's not like the sound files have been corrupted or anything.

I had this in .65 have not noticed it yet in .75

This was happening to me for BBM notifications. I changed the ringtone and it's now working! (i'm still on .65)

I have not updated to .75 yet. i see a lot of links to get it, but this is my first BB and I am little worried about doing my own firmware update. Any suggestions?

Well this obviously seems to be a big problem. People depend on their BB's to receive e-mails and texts in a timely manner, and if you're not alerted what's the point? Surprised this hasn't been discussed more, especially since I'm sure more people than replied to this thread are having this problem.

It happens to me when I have it in the holster...I have .75 and i still have that issue...I read in a thread to use custom profiles but i did that and still happens...hopefully they fix this with an os update

I noticed this today. I occasionally look at the light to see the status and I was surprised to see it lit up red when I didn't hear any notifications. I did happen to notice today as well when I was replying to a text another text came in and no sound went off but I did notice the green light turn to red. After sending that current text I saw that another new text was on top of the one I just replied to.

I am experiencing the problem on .75.

still have the issue in .75, really effing annoying. honestly, what is the point of having a phone if you arent alerted that someone is trying to reach you?

Mine's set to yes, and I have the issue and I'm not actually using a holster (ever).

Okay, I just changed my SMS/e-mail tone to Greeter and it works fine now (just tried it 3 times and it worked all 3 times).

I was using Lightspeed before. Out of curiousity, is that what other people were using before? Maybe it's an issue with the ringtone file for that one itself.

I'm having the opposite issue as most of you. I've set my 2 email account to have no alert and no LED notification. The only sound is for my SMS inbox. But it seems i'm getting the sounds when emails come in-at first i thought it was happening when plugged into usb but realize it also happens when it isnt now.

Any ideas? i do have an alert sound for Level 1 msgs but would that cause my incoming emails to sound?

i'm hoping just an OS issue and not something wrong with my phone.

I know I've posted about this before....sooooo annoying...this really is my biggest and only true gripe with the phone so far....how annoying...I'm surprised this isn't a more popular topic...and also surprised it wasn't addressed with the .75 update..

i have also had this problem and called vzw about it last weekend. she had me do a system reset and seem to work fine for her 3 test texts, but then started to mess up again. i was using the notify eager then switched to the ufo, but it did not fix the problem. i thought about calling vzw again, but if several of us are having this issue it must be a bug. i will just wait for a fix to come out so that someone else can get a storm and enjoy this sweet piece of equipment! i love this website and it is my first stop everyday to check the new forums. great job guys and gals and keep up the good work!!!

Just as a followup, has anyone had this problem fixed by .76 (Verizon)? It's still happening to me.

Also, I discovered something interesting. I happened to be using the phone in a romm that was completely silent, and an e-mail came in. The red LED lit, and I actually heard a soft static come from the speaker, but no actual sound. So basically it's trying to play the sound file but it's just doesn't happen.

i spent over an hour and a half on the phone with vzw. i eventually ended up talking to the blackberry specialist in tenn. he tried several things which had already been tried. he had no other suggestions but to call if it happened again. i was using the notifier sound eager. i have switched to the bbpro sound gungho and have not missed a text yet! there must be a glitch with the notifier sound category because i noticed that the light speed is in the same category. hope this helps out and maybe it will be fixed soon. lots of good sounds for messages there.
