    Default donotreply@blackberry.com Action required:update password?

I have occasionally gotten email :

    from donotreply@blackberry.com
    Action required: update password!
    Sep 9, 2009 7:22 AM

Update the password for xxxx@yy.com in the BlackBerry Internet Service! Email messages from xxxx@yy.com are not beingdelivered to your BlackBerry device.

To resume receiving email messages from this email address, update the password for xxxx@yy.com in the BlackBerry Internet Service:

    1. Open you BlackberryInternet Service account by completing one of the following actions:

    * Click the email setup application on your device.
    * Using a browser on your computer, visit the BlackBerry Internet Service web site.

    .....

If I go to email setup on the device it gives me :
Connecting to email settings.... and times out and says: "Your device had a problem connecting to the server." I do Retry....
Then it times out and says: "your device encountered a problem with this application's server".

I have 4 bar and i am in 1XEV mode.

Last time I got this email I was able to just go into email settings and enter the password (which had not changed by the way) and it started working again.

This time it will not let me get into the application to sett the password.

Are the servers down or something?

    I am on Verizon.

Also wierd thing. this says Verizon is on .148 os :http://forums.crackberry.com/f132/al...-betas-123176/ Yet a few weeks ago I was in Destop Manager adn it just started loading and completed and am running on v4.7.0.151(platform 4.0.0.186)

But everything has been working fine on this release for several weeks now.

I just occasionally 1 every 2 weeks or so get this email about needing to enter my password. Just this time it will not work.

    Default Too much information

My guess is that something in your email set up has not gone right.
I would call Verizon and get the tech help people to put it right.
Doing this over this forum may take a couple of days.

But it has been working for 3 months and then just 1 month ago it asked for verification and I did it and it was ok again until today when it asked for password verification again and this time it will not let me into the email settings.
    It just times out.

Most people are finding BIS is down for now. No ETR from RIM as far as I have read on other threads.

I think the site/server is down. I tried going to the Verizon BIS site and it won't load.

BIS might be down while they upgrade to 2.8.

When this happened to me it was because Comcasts email server went offline and BIS tried to sync without success. When this happens the BIS de authenticates the effected email and then waits until you go in the BIS site and do something.

Go on your BIS site and see if any of the icons next to your email have a envelope with a circle slash through it. If you do then click this icon and follow the prompt because you aren't getting email to your device.

It could have something to do with the BIS site being odd today. But I bet his email is still de authenticated. I believe the BIS site is back up BTW

    Hope I helped!

I also got this message last week for my hotmail accounts. I don't understand why it's only hotmail and not my yahoo account. But I did what was expected and it works fine! Guess in three months i have to do the same thing again!!

Hot mail might have went down for some reason. As I said if it can't contact the server it seems to think the password is invalid and de authenticate the account.

Default Unable to Connect to Server

I was having the same problem, however was able to solve it by going to the BIS website for my carrier and updating my password. The password rules changed to require a minimum length of 8 characters, with a combination of lower and uppercase, as well as numbers.
If your old password does not fit this format, the password (while correct) will not allow access to the server through the email settings option on your BB.

Once I updated this, and enterd the new password, it worked right away.

Here is the BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) site for Verizon. vzw.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw

Do a google search for "Blackberry internet service ______" with the name of your carrier.

Normally when you do a software update, you will need to re-enter your email password once the update is installed and the device has rebooted
