Forget your DM. Make sure that you can see your Storm from My Computer as "USB" drives BB1 and 2. If you can't, then neither can your DM - go and get a Windows Storm Driver for your PC.

Mine also did the same thing last night loading one of the hybrids. I did a battery pull on the phone and rebooted the computer and it connected right away.

This happened to me after installing .114 as stated a battery pull and computer reboot fixed the problem. Good luck!

Ya that's when mine did it. I loaded the .114 and then swapped it with the .114 with the .113 java folder and it froze up on me.

A good place would be to the blackberry web site BlackBerry - PDA Software Downloads - Support & Services at BlackBerry.com

Click on "Download Blackberry Desktop Software"

from the list, pick Blackberry USB and Modem Drivers
clcik NEXT and pick the language you want !

You may also want to take a look on the Blackberry support forum
BlackBerry Support Community Forums - Desktop Manager connection problem - BlackBerry 9500 Series Smartphone - BlackBerry Storm - BlackBerry Support Community Forums

    or the KB

You still may want to get DM working so you can make backups.
