Data speed test wtf!?
- Ok, so, I've just done speed tests on my 9500 using EDGE and 3G. They are as follows.....
EDGE, Avg. Download Speed: 496.1Kbits/s
Max. Download Speed: 667.1Kbits/s
Avg. Upload Speed: 39.7Kbits/s
Max. Upload Speed: 39.7Kbits/s.
3G, Avg. Download Speed: 347.27Kbits/s
Max. Download Speed: 575.12Kbits/s
Avg. Upload Speed: 55.21Kbits/s
Max. Upload Speed: 64.53Kbits/s.
So WTF EDGE is faster and more consistent than 3G? Can people please post their results because i just don't understand this lol
Btw, I'm using Sure Mobile in Jersey(UK) I'm guessing about 5-10K users. Fast or slow!?!

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com02-27-10 06:23 PMLike 0 - You all realize he is on a carrier in the UK, and its GSM based and not CDMA. So there are tons of variables to consider when comparing the speeds.02-27-10 06:43 PMLike 0

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com02-28-10 08:59 AMLike 0 - Given that there are differences in carriers and network technology, if you want a broader range of test results to compare your results and also more applicable GSM test results, then may I respectfully recommend these other topics on this site, where previous members have posted their speedtest results.

Also, this thread http://forums.crackberry.com/f134/ci...cation-162217/ relates to a different application that provides some network speed testing. It may be that the app provides the ability to compare results to a large number of other people's results, however, I have not loaded it it or tried it. It may be a source of additional information to help you characterize your individual connection speed issues.
In addition to that, I think that when comparing speed testing results, it helps to also be able to compare the signal strength when the speed testing was done, since there is a correlation. The signal strength can be checked by going into Options -> StatusLast edited by Snarfler; 02-28-10 at 02:21 PM. Reason: to be consistent with recent moderator intervention
02-28-10 10:07 AMLike 0 - I can see a mod stick coming out very soon. This thread is getting very heated. A lot has to be said for searching and learning. I am usually the first to sound rude in my posts, not by nature but by my bluntness. I did not consider howarmats post to be anything other than that. Blunt. As for the comment CDMA has nothing to do with the OPs situation, he is correct. Compare GSM to GSM and CDMA to CDMA. They are not interchangeable.02-28-10 10:51 AMLike 0
- I accept I over reacted to previous comments so let's cut the crap before this turns completely off topic. Back to why we're here......

....from our Posting Rules & Guidelines.....
Post in the Right Forum
We’ve done our best to layout the forum categories so they are logical and make sense. When you are creating a new thread, do your best to get it in the right category. We want these forums to be value added and educational. The General CrackBerry Discussion and General RIM/BlackBerry Discussion are good places to post if you have a serious question but are not quite sure where to put it. These forums are less stringently moderated, while specific forums (BlackBerry 8700 Series for example) are more strictly moderated to maintain their quality and usefulness.
And of course, we also have the Off-Topic Discussion forum. This is the place on the site to have fun and talk about whatever. From sports to the weather to what to buy your girlfriend for her birthday (buying her a new blackberry is always a good thing), anything goes in here. Just remember to keep it clean, keep it productive and keep it legal!
Make Meaningful Posts
While CrackBerry.com is geared as much towards entertaining and connecting the Crackberry community as it is to helping solve problems and staying on top of news and rumors, all posts made within the site should be value added and on topic to the thread (even in the free for all). Hijacking a thread off-topic is a big No-No, and posts made for no reason other than to increase post count will be wiped from the site.
Personal Attacks
Do not flame, insult or post personal attacks against other users. Be courteous, not rude. Any instances or reports of harassment of members will be treated seriously. CrackBerry.com has a zero tolerance policy against this kind of behavior, which may result with an immediate temporary or permanent ban at moderators' discretion. CrackBerry.com is a friendly place - treat members with respect at all times. If you don't have something nice to say, do not say it!
Reporting a bad post
There is a "Report bad post" button on the top right side of each post (red/white triangle) or you can send a PM to a moderator.
We now return you to your regularly schedule thread already in progress!02-28-10 12:57 PMLike 0 - Bell Mobility 1xEV:
