I've been offered a line on an AT&T family plan. So I want to get a storm and use it on att's network. I dont care if I can use 3g or not. What matters 2 me is the Cost of the Device itself. I've never bought anything overseas, much less a blackberry. would it be cheaper to get a storm from vodafone? telus? bell? verizon? i know the prices haven't been officially released. but perhaps some1 could give me any sort of advice that would help the situation. THANX N ADVANCE!

Well considering an unlocked sim free bold will cost 590 from expansys, I would think a storm would be around 500 (if it is even going to be available without a contract). So it will most likely be cheaper to get a device from a North American provider.

It also has not been confirmed that the VZW Storm will work unlocked on a US GSM carrier natively. So you may be stuck going with a Voda Storm. Expensive either way!

No contract? Yes, I would venture the $700 range. Might be wrong though.....

Well, on Vodafone's web-site, the Bold is anywhere from "free" to 187.00 ($318, 12 mo contract and only 21/mo plan). There's no mention of a "retail" no contract/service price, but using VZWs pricing scheme: a BB 8830 with a two-contract costs $219.99 (before rebates), full retail is $519.99 (that's an additional 114%). So, assuming you could do that, it would be 400, or $681...plus shipping...international......that's assuming that the Storm is anywhere near the Bold's price point.

If you really want to be on your family's AT&T plan, maybe wait for the Bold?
