so i finally did it. i called up verizon switched my update date and got my storm. i do however need two things and that is news and weather, both of which i had working perfectly on my palm.

i hear Viigo and weather bug are the best apps for this. is that true?

how can i get them working?

    and does weatherbug cost anything?

    Storm OTA Apps Thread

There is the link for OTA Apps- what you are wanting is right there. I believe Weatherbug is free. Viigo is great but I know its not the only app out there for news. Good luck!

Viigo has weather, news, sports etc, it will serve all your needs. You can basically add ANY RSS feed to it. The Storm version is in beta and DOES have a few bugs in particular it contributes to the Storm's memory leak.

If you don't mind paying for it, I would go with Garmin. It is a great app and I use it almost every day. It is $79: Garmin | Garmin Mobile for BlackBerry - Turn your BlackBerry into a savvy navigator with Garmin Mobile

Vz Navigator is awesome! But it does cost $9.99 but in my mind its worth every penny.

If you are asking about the Garmin program, it works really well. You can download a trial of it to check it out and see if you like it before buying it. I had VZ Nav on my BB for a year or so (8830 and then Storm), but once I tried the Garmin app I canceled VZ Nav.

I don't want to pay a monthly fee to have GPS, will the Storm work with Garmin or other GPS app without having to pay monthly fees? I have a GPS receiver for my vehicle, having it in my Storm is a plus, but not something I'd pay for monthly. -Mostly for walking large cities, going on hikes, etc.

The storm has BB Maps on it and no additional monthly fees. It does not have voice turn by turn navigation, just visual. For walking it will work perfectly for you.
