I'm guessing that you are using one of the official OS. In the leaked betas that have recently been released, the camera has become a lot faster but not always stabler (.90 had problems). I'm running .103 with image stabilization, auto white balance, superfine picture quality, etc and it only takes 1-2 seconds to take the picture. There is sometimes a delay from the camera trying to zoom onto the subject (1-2 secs) but it is more than likely the OS.
