Im new to the smartphone world so forgive my stupidity ...

is it possible to not have sites detect you are on a phone, and throw you to their mobile version?

What if i want to view the full site without mobile conversion?

Yep sites can and do do this. If you want to see the full site you set your phone to tell the site that you are using firefox or internet explorer and you get the page based on the fact that you lied to the server.

you can change the browser identification.

    go to browser>menu key>options>browser configuration>browser identification.

set this to either firefox or internet explorer. now every website will think you are a pc rather than a phone. this trick should also be good for online banking sites that require a certain browser.
