I have never owned a Blackberry before and I bought one Friday. I see that the new Storm is coming out tomorrow. Is it that much better than the one I currently own, that I should consider trading this one back in and getting the new one?
I just updated the OS and I haven't had any real problems with this one. Just have to get used to typing on the touch screen and I heard the new has a better touch screen.
I do love my storm but if I had a coice between the two I would probably choose storm2 just because they have made some improvements it seems. Good luck with what you choose!
Are there any obvious advantages to the Storm 2? I have seen reviews about it being better, but is it a lot faster? that much better typing? any other advantages?
Some reviews have said that the Storm2 is what the first Storm should have been, so if you're going to buy a Storm, it should be the Storm2. But if I was you, I would wait until Nov 6 because that is when the Droid will be released. That way you can play with each phone and see which one is for you.

I would say that it depends on what you're looking for. I was considering the Storm 2, but after upgrading the OS on my Storm, I am very content for now. Do a comparison of each device and weigh it against your needs.
Keep in mind the S2 is about triple the price depending on how much you got S1 for. Not much difference in the two
That was the main factor. I got the Storm 1 for $35 after rebates and everything. I didn't want to triple that price if it wasn't significantly better.
In my opinion the 9530 is much faster with the new s/w on it, and I played with the 9550 and it is pretty sweet but I see no difference in operations other than more app memory and wifi, the screen is pretty cool that you can click multiple spots as once, Oh and it comes with a 16 gb memory card, but it will be 279.99 before rebate plus a 35.00 restock fee if you're not a vip account.
Considering the fact that you're going to be stuck with the device for two years, definitely go with Storm2. Also, I hear Storm2 is LTE compatible (somebody please confirm this) which should start to roll out before your 2 years is up depending on where you are.
If you can afford it, definitely go with Storm2. I know some of us would go for it just for the Wi-Fi.
You have 30 days to play with your Storm so get used to it and take some time to go play with the Storm2 at the store and decide which one is for you.
