- I'm beginning to feel inadequate - I have no dot
It's a new 9500 though - maybe we should start a separate 9500 dot thread
Where is the manufactured date btw? Mines made in Mexico, but I can't see a date anywhere01-14-09 01:18 PMLike 0 - Just for your information I work at Verizon Corp Store in Joplin, MO! When you get a replacement through Customer Service they send a like new phone and tell you that it is new! It comes with all the bells and whistles and appears to be brand new in reality it is not. Since seeing how you said it came in the plain white and black packaging you assume it is new!
I recently did this for my Grandmother her phone was piece of junk kazar. I swapped it out for the New Silver Voyaguer, which in fact was a like new replacement! She would never know since it was wrapped in the plastic and in the box it came in from the store. I hope this information helps. And as far as I know it is a quality assurance thing with the dot!01-14-09 02:21 PMLike 0 - It seems only mexican units have the blue/green/black dots. I've had both canadian and mexican units, but the only one that had a dot was the mexican. Must be something they do down in their manufacturing plant. Maybe it's used to symbolize that it passed inspection...01-14-09 02:26 PMLike 0

I figured this. There's no way there's enough new phones to give everybody 3 or more replacements.
Are the phones being sent back being checked and repaired, though?01-14-09 02:42 PMLike 0 - Canadian built 12/29/08 and no sharpie dot. Came with 0.75 release.
The dot is probably an identifier in the manufacturing line that some process (test, rework, upgrade, etc) was completed or needed to be processed. I doubt that it really means anything to the end user or quality of the product.
P.S. I do have 2 blue dots on my Titleist Golf Ball though LOL!01-14-09 02:45 PMLike 0 - so you are saying when i upgraded from my curve to the storm ( which has a blue dot) i was not given a new phone but a used one?01-14-09 03:00 PMLike 0

PEOPLE SERIOUSLY NEED TO STOP WORRYING WHETHER OR NOT THEY GOT NEW OR USED. ALL THAT MATTERS IS, DOES YOUR PHONE WORK? ALL THIS THREAD MEANS IS THAT WE WANT TO KNOW WHATS THE MEANING OF THE MARKER. IS IT CHECKED BY A HUMAN FOR QUALITY CONTROL? ITS ALL SPECULATION AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHETHER ITS NEW OR USED.Last edited by y2bandit; 01-14-09 at 03:16 PM.
01-14-09 03:14 PMLike 0 - NO! It means it probably went through quality control to ensure things are right or been checked by a human before packaged rather than being put together by a machine, placed in box and shipped. But no one knows for sure. Regardless, if it came out of a box, ITS BRAND NEW.
