    Have you checked to make sure it is enabled? You may have turned it off.

    Click "SMS and MMS" on the home screen

    Once your messages are showing, hit the "BB Menu Key"

    Scroll down to Options and click

    Then click "General Options" -- In the middle of the page, you will see "Display New Message Indicator" -- make sure it is on "Yes"

    I think that's it...
