Default I Agree

I will have to agree with RETEP as well as whenever I work outside on hot days, I can pull my storm out of the holster and the bottom half of the phone almost always never responds. My phone is also one of the original Storms.

Does anyone know if this happens on a newer version of the Storm (9530)? So if I did get a replacement would I still have this issue?

I have two other problems too; the top of the screen doesn't respond at all. I frequently have to rotate into landscape mode or vice-versa in order to select a function -this moves the desired key out of the range of the "dead" bit of screen.

Secondly, when using the browser (native or Opera mini) or scolling through emails, the screen frequently goes into cut 'n paste mode. This is driving me nuts. All I want to do is scroll gently up or down through text with a light swipe, and hey -I am in cut 'n paste mode. I press Return and try again. But no, a swipe and I'm in cut 'n paste again.

Mine is one of the first Storms, acquired in late November '08. In many ways I love it and am never without it, but after all this time I yearn for a phone that just works without any problems. Unless there is some definite news of a seriously revamped Storm being released soon, and with the Torch getting so-so reviews, I am in danger of losing my faith in Blackberrys.
i have the exact same problems too! how did you fix them?

Irrelevant, as its January 2011 and the problem has shown up from the beginning of my newly acquired refurb 9530.
I have this as an overseas work phone and a 9800. The 9530 has been problematic but first an OS upgrade to the official .328 and a subsequent upgrade with the self installing Chinese .1041 helped greatly.
The only remaining problem is (or was, read on) the random screen selections as described in this thread.
The temp anomalies make the most sense and as I was reasding that, my storm started acting up with the random screen selection again right after moving some icons. (This occurs also for no reason, just sitting overnight or for a few minutes).
I tried all sorts of physical diagnostics while this was happening and came to the conclusion that the screen sensitivity settings may come into play. So I changed the Tap interval, Hover period and Swipe sensitivity to 500, 1000, and Low (0), respectively (from my previous more sensitive settings).
It worked, and this has been the ONLY TIME that I have brought the screen back to normal behavior WITHOUT a battery pull!
Naturally I will see what happens in the next few days, but I feel I'm on to something here.
Try it, you have nothing to lose.
BTW, I have observed that both my phones, the 9800 and 9530, do not like screen protectors at all. with one on the 9800, it behaves very similarly to the 9530's random screen selection anomaly.
