Hi I am getting a cheaper BB Storm with bad ESN..(original owner lost and found by the same person but never cleared the ESN from the blacklist)...

I am trying to buy from the second owner who does not use it today. Can I unlock the phone using unlock code and use it with any GSM carrier? Is there any other issues...? Please suggest.

you need to have the first owner call VZW and have them clear the ESN....

There's not much you will able to do with that device unless the ESN is cleared

Yup, the phone can be used as a phone, but no email, BBM, or other data.

If its been blacklisted, the PIN has also been blocked. I've been seeing this on another forum more and more as people start having problems with data on their unlocked Storms because Verizon is cracking down on people using data over their BIS.

you can still use it under tmobile, but like krypto said , you can't connect to the blackberry servers for push email and BBM. Im unsure about data. I think you can still use the WAP browser tho. Correct me if Im wrong.
