9530: MMS w/o data plan: enabled but won't send
Hi. I have an unlocked (pretty sure it was refurbished) Blackberry Storm 9530 as part of a T-Mobile family plan. I have the $5 300 texts/month add-on.
Originally the MMS didn't show up at all, but after research on the internet, I found out it had to do with the service books. So I downloaded a set of Service Books from some guide (pretty sure it was on Crackberry) on the internet (since I don't have a data plan, I couldn't register or receive new service books).
Now MMS shows up, and I can choose a picture to send to either a phone number or e-mail address. I can even press/click "Send", and it shows up in both Messages (I turned on the option to show everything in Messages) and in the separate "SMS and MMS" screen.
The problem is, although it shows up on those screens, it has the little Clock symbol next to it. This happens to me occasionally if I'm on a train or something and I send a text message but it goes away after like a second. Sure it could take time to send the picture, but it's already been 8 minutes since I last tried to send one that was <100 kb.
Also, the lady at the store told me that I would need the data plan to send MMS, but she also said I needed to get a data plan to use App World and stuff (but w/ research I used the apn/voicestream method and it worked). Is she actually right about the mms/data plan thing? Is there no way around it?
I hope I provided enough information. Thanks in advance.
Edit: I used the guide on this website: howto-get-all-features-browser-mms-working-t-mobile-w-unlocked-storm-95xx-106023
for the generic T-Mobile service books using CrackUtil and stuff.
NOTE: I turned off WAP/APN... I'm trying to send MMS using the messaging service and not the data service.
