9500 lcd screen version

Could any one tell me what the difference is between the 2 different versions of lcd replacements for the 9500.The socket end looks similar is it what type of board drives it.Just a thought but there seems to be lots of problems with black screens would be interesting to know which version its happening to and could it be to do with software bug in os which affects one and not the other.Apparently the 2 screen versions are not interchangable so make sure you fit like for like.
Can all os be used with both types of screen.
