Best advice I can give right now, plug your phone into your computer in mass storage mode. Then try formatting the card again through the computer. If that doesn't work we'll try other routes.
I just bought the card I haven't used it put it in my phone it popped up said media card found needs to be formatted so I hit format and went to options/memory and it shows media card 1.8 gb free

1.8 GB free is definatelly consistent with it being a 2GB card. I would take it back, it seems as though it was mislabled at the factory. I dont know what else it could be.
I think I remember having this problem a while ago.
I formatted my 8GB micro sdhc with xp and I could not get 8GB
I needed to download "Update for Windows XP (KB934428)" it added hc support to my xp
but why would a brand new in the package 8 GB card , going straight into a device, and formatting that card, still show only 1.8GB free space? This doesnt seem yo be a pc isssue, you dont need a pc to format the card, especially a new card.

I can't remember if I put the sd card in my computer first, it was over a year ago with my 8330curve. But I do remember needing to update xp to get full capacity of the card, the phone couldn't do it.
Worth a shot.
Tryed everything, except for plugging it into the adapter and into a slot on the computer but since I dont have a slot on my computer I will have to wait till i get to a computer that has a slot, if anyone has any other ideas please let me know
If you formatted it on the phone, the OS on your computer should not make any difference. I would bring it back to where you purchased it and have them prove to you it is 8gb or give you another.
