My storm is currently on a 3g network...but I'm planning to fly over to Panama in a couple of months and all they have there is EDGE.
So now I ask, is there actually any difference on the speed?
I do a lot of heavy browsing and downloading so speed is a big concern for me.
I find the only way to measure the speed accurately is by downloading something and see at what rate it downloads becuase between the speed of the network and the slowness of the BB browser...you can't really tell.

You will notice a dramatic difference in browsing using only EDGE VS 3g. I run 2 Storms here in the UK, one is 3g, the other is EDGE. To be frank the EDGE unit annoys me in its lack of speed. But then if thats all that Panama offers you cant do too much about it Blue

Right, considering that EDGE is really 2G/2.5G in the states, that is obviously lower than the 3G, so there will be a decrease in speeds. I've never used a phone on EDGE however, so you will have to take deviant's word on how much the speed decreases
