    Yes it does and to program the phone you have to use it.

    *22899 is basically *228 opt 1. Nothing more, nothing less. It was designed to be used with cellular modem cards because they cannot dial opt 1 once the auto attendant picks up. Don't spread bad info please!!!

    well, perhaps I should clarify that it shouldnt be used for phones. as you pointed out - designed for modems. thus should not be used for phones. While I can't say I've heard any horror stories, it's just what's been passed around at Big Red.
