1. move the space bar either to side or to top to be less interfering of background themes area.
2. Rather than flat gray areas on the space bar, make it shades of soft neon blue to better match the "rings". If space area only reflect white to show highlight, it should show some kind of icon (perhaps you have an icon for yourself that very slightly advertises your theme. I don't suppose many would mind seeing your theme icon as the item to use to close the bar.
3. Make the center space (that appears to be used to close or cause the space area to close after 5 secs.) smaller, as it can allow the other two spaces to be enlarged, or allow for more spaces. Or, simply allow an area in space area for user to click to close.
4. As in one of my previous posts, it would be great if the rings could look dimensional and have movement, perhaps using a circulating use of light to make it look as though its spinning (not fast, just a slow circulation).
I suspect you are still working on things, so I hope these are helpful to your amazing efforts in creating such terrific themes! |
I'll just respond to your points one by one.
1) It was either the top or the bottom, the side wouldn't work because it would require me to vertically stack the spaces. The spaces toolbar doesn't interfere with the background at all, once you're in the middle space the toolbar fades away after five seconds.
2) The look of the Spaces toolbar is pretty much an exact replica of the Spaces feature found on the Mac OS. This is AppleBerry afterall, so I wanted to make sure I got the look the same.
3) As per the above point, I have to keep the look the same. Shrinking down the middle would sort of break the whole look I was going for which is to keep it consistent with the Apple OS. The spaces buttons are actually quite small, my thumb more than covers any one of them. I don't think people will mind not having a close button, all you have to do is navigate to the center space and wait five seconds. You can check your calendar while you're waiting, or check other programs and when you come back it's gone.
4) I could add some sort of animation to the icon selection tool on the dock, but there are various technical reasons why I won't. The icon selection (blue ring) is simply allowed to be a static image, no animations allowed. If I were to hard code the icons onto the dock and manually add in an icon selection underlay it would be technically possible for me to animate it. The only downside would be that the trademark "bounce" of the icons would be gone. This bounce is only available on the theme builder program, and is not an option in Composer.
Hopefully this clarifies! I'll admit that I would change a few things, but it has to be consistent with what it's trying to do, which is to bring Spaces to your BlackBerry.
Appreciate the comments though, very constructive!
