Here are the 4 possibilties of colors for the bottom dock area, a dark orange, a medium orange, red, and blue

personally i look dock 2 or 4.

version 1 to me seems like a dull version of number 2. its not as bright as if there isn't a lot of "power"

version 3 it makes it seem like a "power off" button. thats what i think of when i see the red like that lol.

i think the orange flows with the overall colors better.

Final choice for me is Dock 2

Was thinking maybe start off in blue, when you hit the button, it turns the orange of #2, and the pageing small orb will be orange???

that actually sounds like a good idea.

i think your best option would be testing that and seeing how it looks when you have it set and ready.

i mean, it sounds like a good idea to me, but you never know until you see it in action.

Well, the idea is, that when the icons and buttons are hidden, it is the blue color...and only when they are open it is orange, then when you close, it turns blue again....

so u think it should just stay orange the entire time?

Ah, I see, no it would be all orange when open, all blue when closed...

Just for clarification I am going with the orange when open, blue when closed orbs...

Also, I added some Orange highlights around the 4 static gray buttons when selected, and they get darker too, i think it looks nice:
