I don't know much about the "technical" side of themes but this seems rather large

Aren't most enhanced themes running around 700 or so kbs? I think I saw one theme somewhere on here that was about 300kbs...not very interesting though.

Help me out theme makers :-)) Just need some clarity.

im no theme maker..but 1.5mb on a theme is rather large..and most likely contains a leak somewhere in it.

doesnt matter the SIZE of the theme, matters how its built, how optimized the graphics are created and the use of proper SVG code...thats pretty much it.

It could be 5 mb, all that does is take ur starting app memory down, but if it is well built, then it wont leak or whatever.

Alot of my themes are just under 1mb, and my past two were 1.5 and 1.7mb respectively and they are smooth as all ****.

Dont let the size of your theme speak for its quality, let its performance do that

And socal, not try to argue, but what you said is not true...the larger the file, does not mean the bigger the memory leak or whatever...

My themes all sit at like 600kb if i dont do any cool wallpapers included in them, then they shoot up anywhere from 500kb or 800kb JUST by adding wallpapers.

JUST because i add wallpapers to my theme doesnt mean its gonna all of a sudden leak memory.

If the theme is exported with lots of wallpapers that have a wide array of colours, especially if they're different for each screen (homescreen, app screen, lock screen, incoming call, etc) you can probably account for 40% of the theme size based on those alone.

1.5MB is above average, but not ridiculous if the wallpapers are responsible for it. Despite popular belief, theme size doesn't reflect theme performance.

If you look at the majority of 700KB themes, you'll likely find they are simply omitting detailed wallpapers. (or using dark colours!)

AppleBerry dark is 900KB right now, yet Glass is 1.2MB. They're essentially the same theme from a technical standpoint, but the 300KB reduction is due to wallpapers alone. The speed is the same.

Its not the size of the theme, its the motion in the animation.

One thing that I have noticed about composer and theme builder is it does not like jpeg images. Every time I use a smaller jpeg image in one of my themes the final themes is always larger than the same theme with the images in png format.

Also like kd said, it is all about how well the animation is written for the svg file. If you take your time and stream line the svg the size really doesn't make that much of a difference.

I go through and edit all my images to .png before I start building a theme in most cases. Unless I'm testing my animation abilities.

FWIW, I've found that the larger sized themes we make tend to be faster, smoother in transitions, and more stable than the <1MB ones. Dunno why but they are and each time we bang out a 1MB or more theme, this point seems to be reaffirmed!

Most of those kick *** themes have very nice wallpapers that can only be downsized so much before they start looking like crap. The whole memory issue is like the global warming hype scam. Make something seem as a problem when it really isn't, and then find out a way to market it for profit.

From what I have noticed most of the people who complain about the size of a theme follow the complaint with a request for a weatherbug slot or meterberry which are have way more of effect on app memory than the theme ever could..I don't get why folks are so hyper focused on app memory anyway..and the meterberry ones are hilarious to me..an app that runs in the background all the time, and uses memory..lol...

i think the gears of war theme is like 2mb and it runs great it also has three different wallpapers and another for the call acreen pretty neat yo
