After realizing how the new "leap" has roughly the same specs if not worse than the z30. I am just having a hard time believing that this phone will have good hardware.

I love blackberry but am getting sick of this crap. Seriously I have a Z30 but I really want a new touch phone. Yes I have a touchscreen phone but I am still as far behind the current phones as the 9900 was behind the iPhone.

You realize the BlackBerry Leap was designed to be a cheap phone, right? And that the Slider will be a premium phone? Meaning pricepoint more in line with (but not necessarily the same as), the Passport.

I don't think they will be launching any full touch devices in near future. Why not wait for slider. It's as innovative as the BlackBerry passport. Hope specs would be of top-end

Agreed there. I'd gladly pony up the $599 if the device actually has the most beautiful specs, though I'll still probably end up ponying up whatever they charge for it assuming the build quality is similar to that of the Torch's!

Hope it is full aluminium just like HTC and iPhone than it will be popular.

Honestly I'd rather it be more like the passport with the I-Beam built in, adding strong durability.

However if they can make it full aluminum and not bend the same way those do, I'd be okay with that too :P

I just wish we had an estimated date for when the slider will be available. And if that wasn't a big enough wish, I wish we knew roughly when it will be available on VZW.

    Screen resolution will either be

    1920 x 1080 or it will be 2560 x 1440

If we look at the history of BlackBerry you will see most of the devices are on the conservative side so I'm putting all my chips on a 1080p screen. No need to go higher.

I feel like a 1080p screen is like having 4GB RAM in your computer. It will run all the normal things and some games.

1440p is like having 16GB RAM in your computer. It may be nice to have, but do you really need it when sending messages and watching lower quality videos?

Slightly off topic but I got some ontopic stuff in there lol

Yea I've been getting dinged for that all week smh. 1080p is more than sufficient, but if they're going to utilize a Samsung screen I feel as though not going all the way with it will be a shame.

While I personally think that BlackBerry should stick with 1080p for the battery life, the mobile syrup review of the galaxy s6 reported that the new screen tech, despite being 1440p, is 20% more power efficient than the 1080p screen on the galaxy s5. Since BlackBerry is using the same edge screen from Samsung, I would expect the resolution to be 1440p and I would be OK with it if the same power use can be maintained.

Nice, plus going 1440p would give critics one less thing to quip about. They'll find stuff regardless, but that's what critics do in general.

To be fair, the Passport is a 1440x1440 screen, so it wouldn't really make sense for them to downgrade from this since the Passport's battery already is a beast!

Exactly. Samsung's 1440p screens are now more power efficient than a 1080p screen. Saying 1440p hurts battery is just stupid now.

The screen maybe more efficient but the GPU will consume more battery to render everything in 1440p instead of 1080p, so the phone would be slower than the same one with a 1080p screen

Not necessarily. I believe it still clocks in at below 20% extra gpu use it (which would need to be greater than 20% battery use to counter the saved energy from the screen)

If you have anything to back your claim though, feel free to post it
