The Android-powered BlackBerry Venice slider is AT&T-bound was just tweeted today.

That's a bit of a 'no kidding' piece of info lol. Still 0 proof it actually is running Android as of yet. Just mounting rumors...

Alright I give up. If the slider comes with a super secure android fork, i will get that instead of an iphone 6.

But it really has to be special and just personally, I'm still not sure about Google-mine my phone-play services

Check NIST website to see if certification is in progress. FIPs certification is the key and the "secure" that Chen is talking about.

I've thought about it and I understand why BlackBerry would want a android powered phone to get into that market share (after all all the stats only seem to look at OS when they make BlackBerry look bad, never hardware manufacturers. So that would void that argument)

But please I hope it's not the slider. I have been looking forward to this for too long and I DO NOT want android. I could really care less about Metadata mining Google play. If I really wanted those apps enough they would be on a tablet far away from all the personal information I have on my BlackBerry

If they do make it so.... I just wish we can install Google Play Services as optional components.

Only thing in at the moment is a cryptographic toolkit. Nothing with Certicom or Secusmart either.

If it's andriod only I'd only consider getting it if it is rootable with the potential of having an unlocked bootloader (either by default or hack) and has a strong custom rom community. Those were the only things that made my old pos galaxy S tolerable.

This is not the kind of Android device BlackBerry would make.

In fact, they would make the opposite kind of Android.

I'll buy it because it'll be a new gadget,.. but mostly out of curiosity (like how I bought the Passport).

I don't get why people here are so quick to close the door. Let's see what BlackBerry can do here.

Yeah, why keep giving AT&T exclusives when they don't bother to advertise it. If AT&T is the only one offering to carry it, okay, but why not throw one at T-Mobile?

The only reason any of these latest BB10s have been exclusive is because no other carrier agrees to carry them.

However, saying that the slider is 'AT&T bound' is not the same as saying that it will be an exclusive.

If BlackBerry continues this "exclusive" approach to certain carriers offering their phones, they're just going to continue to shoot themselves in the foot. Thy need to get EVERY future device into all carriers. Period!

What are the odds of making two versions of this phone then since I am sure people on Verizon may be interested in this as well? That would be too smart for BB to do LOL
